Question 4

Is GPCN intended to replace AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud?

Accepted Answer

No. GPCN is designed to complement and extend existing cloud strategies, giving organizations another option for workloads that benefit from private infrastructure, dedicated resources, greater data control, and predictable economics. Customers can use GPCN alongside AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or on-premises environments as part of a hybrid or multi-cloud architecture.

Question 5

How does GPCN fit into an existing cloud, on-premises, or colocation environment?

Accepted Answer

No full infrastructure replacement is required. GPCN can be evaluated one workload at a time and integrated with existing public-cloud, on-premises, networking and security environments. Connectivity can include customer-controlled networking, firewall/VPN appliances, IPsec or SD-WAN.

Question 6

What infrastructure does GPCN provide, and does the customer need to manage the underlying hardware?

Accepted Answer

GPCN provides private virtual CPU, GPU, memory, and storage with private networking through an on-demand global operating model. Customers consume infrastructure around the workload without having to procure, deploy, refresh, or operate the underlying physical hardware.

Question 7

Is every GPCN VM a dedicated physical server?

Accepted Answer

No. GPCN provides private virtual infrastructure, not a dedicated physical server for every VM. Customers receive isolated compute resources within a private environment, combining private-infrastructure control with cloud-style flexibility and consumption.

Question 8

Does GPCN offer GPU infrastructure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. GPCN provides on-demand enterprise GPU infrastructure from NVIDIA for AI, machine learning, rendering, and other accelerated workloads. GPU configurations can support up to four GPUs per VM, with access and availability confirmed for the specific workload and location.

Question 9

What compute configurations are available, and can resources be increased?

Accepted Answer

The standard catalog ranges from 2 vCPU/4 GB memory to 16 vCPU/64 GB, with storage scaled accordingly. Larger configurations can be made available. Existing VMs can be resized upward in place: the VM is stopped, resized, and restarted while preserving IP addressing and data. Resizing is upgrade-only.

Question 10

Where is GPCN available?

Accepted Answer

GPCN currently operates across a growing footprint of more than 30+ data centers, 26+ cities and 10+ countries.

Question 11

Can I choose where my workload runs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. GPCN supports customer-directed placement across supported locations. Location selection should consider application, data, user, connectivity, recovery and governance requirements.

Question 12

Is every GPCN service available in every location?

Accepted Answer

No. Available compute, GPU, storage and other infrastructure options can vary by location based on participating-provider capabilities. The workload and target location should be validated together.

Question 13

How does GPCN support data residency and sovereignty requirements?

Accepted Answer

GPCN supports residency and sovereignty by keeping workload data in the location selected at deployment. GPCN does not routinely relocate, mirror, or migrate that data to another location for capacity management or optimization. Customers therefore retain control over where primary and replicated copies reside.

Question 14

Are GPCN data centers dependent on a single connectivity path?

Accepted Answer

No. GPCN locations use carrier-grade internet connectivity with diverse connectivity paths within the facility, so access to a location does not depend on a single path.

Question 15

What is the minimum data center tier used across GPCN?

Accepted Answer

GPCN uses Tier 3+ data center environments.

Question 16

What Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking options does GPCN support?

Accepted Answer

GPCN supports both. A Standard Network uses Layer 3 with routing, DHCP, and SNAT provided, while a Custom Network uses Layer 2 and leaves routing, addressing, DHCP/SNAT, and firewall policy under customer control.

Question 17

How can a GPCN environment connect to an existing site, another cloud, or another GPCN location?

Accepted Answer

A customer can deploy a firewall or VPN appliance in GPCN and terminate IPsec or SD-WAN tunnels to an on-premises site, another cloud, or another GPCN location. The customer controls routing, addressing, firewall policy, and egress through that appliance.

Question 18

Can customers use their existing firewall or network appliance with GPCN?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Customers can bring their own firewall or compatible network appliance into GPCN, allowing existing vendor standards, policies, operating practices and runbooks to carry over.

Question 19

What are common use cases and advantages of Layer 2 connectivity?

Accepted Answer

Layer 2 supports use cases such as bring-your-own firewall, network segmentation, customer-controlled DHCP/IP addressing, hybrid connectivity, compliance-driven environments and legacy modernization where retaining existing IP addressing, firewall rules or routing reduces migration risk.

Question 20

What availability does GPCN provide?

Accepted Answer

GPCN is designed to deliver enterprise-grade reliability with 99.99% infrastructure availability across its participating provider network. Combined with Tier 3+ data center environments and a globally distributed footprint, GPCN provides a resilient foundation for business-critical workloads.

Question 21

What happens if hardware fails within a GPCN location?

Accepted Answer

Providers deploy virtualization platforms in an N+1 or better topology. If a host fails, capacity exists within the location to bring affected VMs back up. Tier 3+ facilities also provide redundant power, cooling, and network. Host restart behavior varies by location, so confirm automatic restart requirements for the specific site.

Question 22

Does GPCN automatically fail traffic and workloads over to another data center?

Accepted Answer

No. GPCN does not automatically relocate customer traffic or workloads between data centers. Cross-location failover depends on the topology the customer designs, including replication, recovery point objectives, session behavior and traffic steering.

Question 23

Does GPCN automatically replicate customer data across locations?

Accepted Answer

No. GPCN does not automatically replicate customer data across locations. Customers control backup, replication, retention and encryption and decide where any secondary copy is permitted to reside.

Question 24

Can GPCN support a multi-location disaster recovery architecture?

Accepted Answer

Yes. GPCN provides resilient infrastructure that can be used as part of a multi-location DR architecture or as a recovery target for environments running elsewhere, including on premises. The actual replication and failover design is workload-specific and can be developed with the appropriate partner resources.

Question 25

What recovery time can customers expect?

Accepted Answer

Recovery time is determined by the customer architecture, including replication method, acceptable recovery point, how failover is triggered and how traffic is redirected. GPCN and partner resources can help design to a stated RTO/RPO, but the platform does not impose one universal recovery time.

Question 26

What uptime commitment and service credits are provided?

Accepted Answer

GPCN contractually commits to 99.99% monthly uptime for VMs covering CPU, memory, storage and network availability. The technical response lists service credits of 10% below 99.99% but at/above 99.9%, 25% below 99.9% but at/above 95%, and 100% below 95%, subject to the SLA terms, claims process and exclusions.

Question 27

What security and compliance standards does GPCN support?

Accepted Answer

GPCN is private by design and built for enterprise security and compliance requirements. Participating infrastructure providers maintain recognized standards including SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, with additional certifications and frameworks varying by provider and deployment location. GPCN uses Tier 3+ data center environments.

Question 28

Does using GPCN automatically make my organization compliant?

Accepted Answer

No. GPCN infrastructure and provider assurance can support a compliance strategy, but compliance depends on the customer’s architecture, configuration, controls, policies and obligations.

Question 29

How are customer workloads isolated and protected?

Accepted Answer

Isolation is enforced at multiple levels: each tenant maps to its own dedicated project/account on the underlying platform; networks belong to one tenant and are not shared; and access controls include MFA, role-based permissions, privilege-escalation prevention, resource-group scoping and server-side authorization.

Question 30

What DDoS protection is included with GPCN?

Accepted Answer

Layer 3 and Layer 4 DDoS protection against volumetric attacks is included across the GPCN provider network. It is part of the standard offering, is always on, and does not require separate activation or subscription.

Question 31

What happens during a DDoS attack, and how is legitimate traffic handled?

Accepted Answer

Traffic is continuously analyzed at the network edge, and mitigation engages automatically when an attack is detected. Attack traffic is scrubbed where possible so legitimate traffic can continue. Blackholing or null-routing may be used as a fallback when an attack threatens the wider provider environment.

Question 32

What application-layer (Layer 7) protection is provided?

Accepted Answer

GPCN includes Layer 3/4 volumetric DDoS protection, but Layer 7/application-layer protection is selected and procured by the customer using the technology of its choice. For example, Cloudflare is not a bundled or managed GPCN component.

Question 33

What virtualization technologies are used?

Accepted Answer

Underlying providers use OpenStack or Apache CloudStack, generally with KVM as the hypervisor. GPCN does not currently interface with providers delivering VMware.

Question 34

How does GPCN provide a consistent experience when underlying providers use different platforms?

Accepted Answer

GPCN abstracts differences among underlying providers. The portal, REST API and Terraform provider behave consistently across locations, giving engineers one operating model instead of separate provider-specific interfaces, resource models and integrations.

Question 35

Can GPCN provide a migration path for organizations moving away from VMware?

Accepted Answer

Yes. GPCN can provide a path away from VMware because it does not depend on VMware licensing. GPCN recommends a planned migration process using established migration/replication tooling, with sequencing and testing completed before the customer renewal deadline.

Question 36

What storage options are available?

Accepted Answer

GPCN supports SSD and NVMe storage for enterprise and data-intensive workloads. Confirm available capacity and service options for the selected workload and location. GPCN storage volumes range from 256 GB up to 4 TB per volume, with available sizes and service options varying by location.

Question 37

Question 38

Can storage volumes be expanded or moved between VMs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A volume can be expanded to a larger supported size but cannot be reduced. You can detach it and reattach it to a different VM within the same location.

Question 39

What happens if a customer needs storage beyond the standard limits?

Accepted Answer

A support request can be raised. GPCN will review the workload requirement with the customer and relevant provider to determine what can be made available beyond standard limits.

Question 40

Does GPCN charge egress fees or have data-transfer limits?

Accepted Answer

GPCN provides zero egress fees across the GPCN network and does not apply a standard metered data-transfer charge. A fair-use review applies to transfers above 20 TB per month for a single VM; sustained usage beyond that level may require a commercial adjustment. Third-party providers may impose separate charges.

Question 41

Does GPCN require a long-term commitment?

Accepted Answer

No. GPCN is built around a flexible, on-demand consumption model without long-term commitments. Customers can scale as needs change, and term-based options are available for customers seeking additional pricing and capacity benefits.

Question 42

Is GPCN always less expensive than public cloud?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. GPCN’s value comes from overall infrastructure economics, not just a lower unit price. Predictable pricing, zero egress fees within the GPCN service model, dedicated resources and fewer ancillary charges can create cost advantages for many workloads while improving control and predictability.

Question 43

How do I get GPCN pricing?

Accepted Answer

Use Request a Quote for opportunities. An EnTelegent GPCN Specialist can gather the technical and commercial requirements needed to prepare a quote.
